Seasons Characters Original Vs Dub General

Orginal Vs Dub

1. The DiC Dub used new names for the characters. Usagi became Serena. Ami, Rei, Mokoto, Minako became Amy, Raye, Lita, and Mina. Mamoru's name was changed to Darien. The Sailor Soldiers were refered to as the Sailor Scouts. Kunzite became Malachite. Princess Serenity was refered to as Princess Serena

2. Due to her femine mannerisms and aparent love affair with Kunzite/Malachite, Zoycite was protrayed as a female in the dub. The romance between her and Malachite apeared more explicit.

3. DIC used brand new Music cues for the background music. New songs were produces for key battles and momments. Most notably "My Only Love" and "Carry On".

4. DIC edited several more adult aspects to the show. Raye's grandpa was a pervert in the orginal version. In the dub he as just an eccentric old man. Some diologue was simiplfied as well.

5. Six episodes were skipped. Most of these were filler. However the finalie of the first season ( the end of the Beryl arch) was combined into one episode. This outraged many fans of the anime to this day. The death's of the Sailor Soldiers were understated and cut severly. It also cut out Usagi dieing and wishing to be a normal girl again.

6. The final 17 episodes of the DIC dub seemed closer to the orginal a bit. The Sailor Scouts were even refered to as Soldiers at times. The content was still made more child friendly however. King Edymion and Neo Queen Serenity were refered to using the proper Japenese names ( where as Prince Edymion and Princess Serenity were refered to as Prince Darien and Princess Serena earlier). "Carry On" was the english song used for the climax of R.

7. Cloverway's dub was also more true to the orginal names at times. But continued with edits to make the show child friendly. One key differences obetween the Cloverway and DIC dubs was that Cloverway used the orginal Japenese Music Cues. Outside of a few specials, no episodes were skipped by Cloverway.

8. One of the Key edits of the Cloverway dub was the romance between Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune. There was always an understated romance between the two in the orginal version. The dub made them cousins.
